Officially retired as of this year, I have a Bachelor of Accountancy from New Mexico State University and a Masters of Business Administration and Accounting from University of Phoenix. I never wanted to be a CPA, I didn’t like preparing taxes and my interest was in audit related activities. My natural curiosity lent itself to the investigatory nature of audit. I did obtain my Certified Fraud Examiner designation and retained it for several years. My personality is more of an introverted one and some of the views I express on this platform are not subjects I would usually broach in casual conversations.
Since I was laid off my last professional job in 2007 I have developed other interests. I never knew how enjoyable creating something beautiful would be until I decided that I was a smart lady and could figure out how to make a quilt for my grand daughter. I’ve learned a lot about quilting and though I do not make as many as other avid quilters I did produce 5 in 2014, the most I’ve done in any year since finishing my first quilt in 2009. I did start several in 2015 with a couple finished and the rest waiting to be finished. The unfinished quilts (UFOs) are piling up.
In December of 2014 my daughter self-published her first book and began seeking contact with other independently published authors. By January of 2015 she had me participating in some of the groups for indie authors. I fell in love with indie authors. They are such a mutually supportive community that I decided to do what I can to help. The more help other authors get the more my daughter will get in return. Since then I’ve read many books for review, began beta reading and have even expanded into some editing for those who are not in a position to pay a professional editor. My most recent avenue of support is organizing a blog tour on the book release date. I love what I do.
