Is the End Near?

My best hatRecently alternative news sources, particularly those with a Biblical perspective are becoming more popular with time. People are realizing that the mainstream media, especially here in the US, are not giving the public full, accurate and unbiased news about what is going on around the world. Many would call some of those alternative news sources ‘fear mongers’ because of the nature of what they are reporting.

Personally, I don’t think of it as trying to instill fear in people, rather, people need to know what is actually happening around them. So many people are not paying attention, or because they do not believe in the Bible or have a lack of faith they do not understand the implications of world events. So many people just go about their daily lives totally unaware of the consequences of geopolitical events around the world. Natural disasters that are occurring around the world do not affect them so, other than feeling sorry for those affected and maybe making contributions to some disaster relief organization, they think nothing more about just how unusual the increase in natural disasters are. If they think about it at all the unusual activity is chalked up to global warming or some other human caused reason.

Listening to people like BPEarthwatch on Youtube  is enlightening. Information that is available to the public through websites tracking weather and geologic events are collected and explained in this one place. The BPEarthwatch often is more on point as to what is important to know than the mainstream media. There are times that mainstream media doesn’t even cover potential disastrous events until it is already a disaster yet BP already reported warning people.  There are others that report on the political events around the world, particularly as these events relate to an imminent world war and the push toward a one world government known as the New World Order to those who are paying attention and those who are working toward making it a reality.  Still, many people are not paying attention. Instead they listen to the mainstream media and believe they are informed. Others pay no attention to world news and some just go about chasing Pokemon characters. Which, by the way, is another way of keeping people unaware of what is really important. I’m concerned about this new game trend and what it is really doing to people. The pictures I see of crowds of people playing the game remind me of the Dr. Who episode with all the black boxes. Hmmm…

The actual point of all this is that all these things are prophesied in the Bible. In Matthew chapter 24 the disciples asked Jesus about the signs of his return and the end of the age.

Signs of the End of the Age
While He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached Him privately and said, “Tell us, when will these things happen? And what is the sign of Your coming and of the end of the age?”
Then Jesus replied to them: “Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and they will deceive many. You are going to hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, because these things must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines[a] and earthquakes in various places. All these events are the beginning of birth pains.
Persecutions Predicted
“Then they will hand you over for persecution,[b] and they will kill you. You will be hated by all nations because of My name. 10 Then many will take offense, betray one another and hate one another. 11 Many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 Because lawlessness will multiply, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be delivered.[c] 14 This good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed in all the world[d] as a testimony to all nations. And then the end will come.
Matthew 24: 3-14  Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

I see the earthquakes, droughts, floods, volcanic activity, sabre rattling in Europe and the Middle East and around the globe, as signs before the end times, the beginnings of the birth pangs from Matthew 24:8. The incidents of geologic activity for earthquakes and devastating weather patterns around the world are increasing more rapidly now than anytime since these events began being recorded and are occurring all over the world in diverse places.  I see Christians being persecuted and killed around the world and even in this country Christian values are being maligned as lawlessness grows.  Unbelief is rampant and with it comes an over sensitivity and taking offense which manifests with increasing societal restrictions on what we say through what is referred to as political correctness. To even mention Jesus is by some considered hate speech, when in reality, wanting others to know the salvation that comes from knowing Jesus is a loving act.

I do believe that we are seeing the events described in the Bible that will occur before the end of the age and I do believe it is near. However, near to us puny humans and near to the infinite God may not be the same.

Dear friends, don’t let this one thing escape you: With the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.  2 Peter 3:8 HCSB

Still, having had a dream a couple decades ago about the return of Christ, I am hopeful that He may return in my lifetime. If not, then, I’ll see you all at the resurrection. In the mean time it is my prayer that all will seek the Lord Jesus and accept the free gift of salvation available.  Ask Jesus into your heart as your Lord and Savior so your name is written in the lambs book of life. Don’t be left behind when the Son of God returns and don’t be among those who are cast into the lake of fire to suffer for eternity.

15 And anyone not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:15 HCSB

May you all diligently seek after the things of God.

I am a retired grandmother and amateur quilter. Generally I do not discuss religion and politics with people other than my family and even then I do more listening than talking. Because I dislike confrontation this blog is a way for me to express opinions that I hold on these and other issues without having to delve into controversial discussions with others who may not agree with me. I am also an avid supporter of indie authors. There are a lot of great books that are not available through traditional publishing and I believe that these stories need to be brought to the attention of the reading public.
