Where Did the Week Go?

My best hatI had wanted to get a book read and a review posted on Friday but that didn’t happen. Life got in the way and I had a lot of work to do. The property manager scheduled to do an inspection of the house. There are a lot of issues that have not been addressed for quite some time and have caused damage. Thursday the new water heater was installed. Who knows how much longer it would have taken had I not recommended a contractor who does other things for me occasionally. The landlord had ordered the water heater and it was delivered and sitting in my garage for almost two weeks. The leak from the old one was getting worse by the day.

Getting my house in order so there was easy access to photograph damage took me the whole week. Longer actually because I had begun the week before. Having a bad back means it takes me longer to do things like that. Taking frequent breaks is necessary and even then occasionally I do too much before I stop; resulting in having a difficult time moving my body because of the back pain.

One of the really good things about getting the house ready was that I actually tackled my sewing/quilting room and now  I can do something again. The first thing I did was repair a pillow cover for my grandson, then I repaired some shopping bags that the handles had come unsewn. We use those at the Aldi store because, well, Aldi’s doesn’t provide bags as part of their way of keeping overhead down so they can keep prices low. Since they built one much closer to where we live we do a lot of shopping there.

A couple of quilt tops were pulled out of the excavation and can be worked on again. But first, I need to finish a dress I was making for my daughter. That shouldn’t take more than a week to finish. Hopefully less. Then I can finish some other things that I started earlier this year. I had this marvelous idea for one of the projects. I am not the best embroiderer and I don’t have a fancy embroidery machine but I need to put some embroidered text on a couple of wall hangings. Well, yesterday my daughter took me to Fremont for lunch and on the way back I saw a custom embroidery shop. I don’t know how much it would cost, but, if it’s reasonable, I think I’ll have them do the embroidery, that is if they do the kind I want. If not, I’ll just have to do it by hand and, though it might be more personal and appreciated, it won’t be as pretty.

As you can see, the week went by too quickly for me and I didn’t finish a book for review on Friday, and for the first time in a very long time I didn’t even have a post of any sort ready yesterday. So, I’m bemoaning the lack of time today. I promise, I won’t be doing as much this week and I’ll get that book read and reviewed this coming week.

Have a blessed weekend!

About grandmapeachy

I am a retired grandmother and amateur quilter. Generally I do not discuss religion and politics with people other than my family and even then I do more listening than talking. Because I dislike confrontation this blog is a way for me to express opinions that I hold on these and other issues without having to delve into controversial discussions with others who may not agree with me. I am also an avid supporter of indie authors. There are a lot of great books that are not available through traditional publishing and I believe that these stories need to be brought to the attention of the reading public.
