I usually write something on Sunday night or even before to post on Mondays. Today however I had not prepared a post. So, this truly is a “Monday Morning Musing” and I’ve not an idea in my mind what to write about.
The weekend was mostly just like any other. My husband had to work Saturday, but, thankfully they cancelled working on Sunday. The money would be good as it pays double time. But, to me, no amount of money is worth the fatigue that he experiences. He’s not a young man and needs rest. One day isn’t really enough but that is much better than none.
The weekend was the annual “Valley Days” event with activities going on from Friday afternoon until Sunday afternoon. I didn’t go until Sunday and only then because my husband wanted to see the car show. They line up all sorts of classic cars (and farm tractors) along the two blocks of our small downtown business district. A few vendors have stalls set up on the one empty lot and long the sidewalks. We arrived after my son-in-law and daughter-in-law had taken the kids to see the car show.
After we connected we all just wandered around looking. Sat down for awhile and fed the grandkids hot dogs and sloppy joes.
I saw a small quilt display and went and introduced myself. I’m glad I did. She is the wife of a man who had been seriously injured at work where my husband works. I felt so bad for him and his family at the time and prayed diligently for him and the family. He has recovered and is back to work but it took a very long time. When I discovered that she is his wife I told her that I had prayed. She was thankful and believes that it was only through the prayers of many that he survived and recovered. At one point the doctor had given him a 30% chance of survival. I am so pleased to have met his wife and even more so that she is a quilter. She’s good too. Her work was beautiful.
I am looking forward to this weekend. It will be a full three day weekend for my husband. The first in months. He needs the break and I hope we can have a small get together with local family. It is time to put my grill back into action. Not sure what I’ll grill, but, I guarantee it will be delicious. I love to grill, meat, veggies and whatever I can throw on the grill. I love to cook outdoors during the warm weather. It gets too hot in the house when we use the kitchen much during warm weather. We eat a lot of cold food during the summer. I guess it is time to start planning a Memorial Day cookout menu.
Have a Blessed Week!
