A Slow Start

Grandma Peachy profile 1Normally I have a book review on Friday. This week I’ve failed to do that. I did read a book I could have reviewed, however, I’m reading the second book in the series and next week on Wednesday I’ll have an interview with the author and will post reviews of both books on Friday. January is a slow start getting back to my regular routine. bookreview

I have read a couple of books this week, but, one was an unpublished work that I was asked to read and give my opinion. The other I’ve already mentioned will be reviewed next week. I did enjoy both but was a bit disappointed in the unpublished work. The end really didn’t bring the story to the point that I expected and I found it rather anti-climactic.

There are other things on my agenda for the next month as well. I am going to make a couple of quilted wall hangings for my soon to be new grandsons. Hopefully their adoption will be finalized by the end of February. I’ve prayed for this for a long time. Even before these children were born I prayed that the Lord would give my daughter children.

I’ve gotten off track. Back to my slow start. With the holidays just passed there was too much going on to continue with the regular schedule that I had from September through November. I was busy with getting a quilt finished for Christmas and working with a couple of authors on editing their books. I didn’t get as much reading for review done so did not review as many books as normal. Now that the busy time is over it’s been difficult to motivate myself to get back on schedule. A rest of sorts. Now I am back to reading but not quite as fast as I did last summer and autumn. The year may not have me reading quite as many books in a week simply because I plan on spending more time in my quilting room.IMG_0038 I did not finish even half as many quilts last year as I did the year before. There are several that I would like to finish this year and that requires devoting more time to quilting. I’m sure everyone will forgive me for reading one to two books a week instead of the 3 – 4 a week I read for several months last year.

There will most likely be a slow down again in late February to early March as well. It is my plan to go visit my oldest daughter for about 3 weeks during that time. I’m just not sure how much reading and blogging I’ll get done while I’m gone.travel plane I will take my computer and my phone with me so I should get something done, just not my usual amount.  Summer months will pick up. The nice weather comes along and I tend to take my book outside and sit in the shade reading. I don’t get as much sewing done in the warm weather.

A slow start to the new year’s activities. In an effort to pick up my pace my daughter and I will be co-hosting a Facebook event on January 30th. It is rather late, since I started the page in October, but, we are going to have a “housewarming” party for my Grandma Peachy Facebook page.

I’m looking forward to the party as an inspiration to kick off the rest of the year supporting the indie author community. Invitations will be send out when the event is organized. My daughter does that so well. Her Facebook event parties are well attended and people have a lot of fun. I hope that once invites are out that you will consider dropping in for awhile on the day of the event.

Blessings to all in the coming year,

Grandma Peachy

About grandmapeachy

I am a retired grandmother and amateur quilter. Generally I do not discuss religion and politics with people other than my family and even then I do more listening than talking. Because I dislike confrontation this blog is a way for me to express opinions that I hold on these and other issues without having to delve into controversial discussions with others who may not agree with me. I am also an avid supporter of indie authors. There are a lot of great books that are not available through traditional publishing and I believe that these stories need to be brought to the attention of the reading public.
