Getting back to Normal

Grandma Peachy profile 1It’s been a month since my schedule for this blog has been the normal weekly schedule with my personal musings on Monday, author interviews on Wednesday and book reviews on Fridays with a few miscellaneous posts here and there. I have to admit I’m having a hard time getting myself back to that normal schedule.

I’ve been reading for various purposes the past month. I’ve worked on editing with a couple of authors, I’ve done a beta read for one and I recently read a manuscript submitted to an independent publisher to give my opinion. There have been a few books I’ve read for review and most of the reviews have been published. I still have one that I read recently and haven’t written my review but am waiting until after I finished the second book in that series before I publish any reviews.  Hopefully that will be tomorrow as I’m about 40% into the second book and I started reading yesterday.  Whether I finish today depends on how much the family needs my attention today. Hopefully with both parents feeling better I won’t be called upon to do much in the way of child care today.

In addition, there is a couple of quilting projects I need to do in the next month. It is hoped that the adoption of the two siblings my oldest daughter and her husband have fostered for over a year and half will be final by the end of February. I have designed wall hangings for each child with their adoptive names and when I find out the date, the date of their adoption. I’m going to include a Bible verse as well.  Based on I Samuel 1:27 “I prayed for this child and the Lord has granted the desires of my heart.” I think it an appropriate verse. We have all prayed for years that God would give them children.

A few days ago I signed up for the Goodreads challenge this year. It is my goal to read 70 books this year. That goal does not include beta reading or editing.  Last year I had some weeks that I read 3 to 4 books so I know that I can reach the goal, it is just a matter of determination and managing my time.

So, as January progresses it is my hope that I will finally be back into the swing of things and get this blog back on it’s normal posting schedule.  Watch for author interviews and book reviews soon.

Have a blessed year!

About grandmapeachy

I am a retired grandmother and amateur quilter. Generally I do not discuss religion and politics with people other than my family and even then I do more listening than talking. Because I dislike confrontation this blog is a way for me to express opinions that I hold on these and other issues without having to delve into controversial discussions with others who may not agree with me. I am also an avid supporter of indie authors. There are a lot of great books that are not available through traditional publishing and I believe that these stories need to be brought to the attention of the reading public.

It’s tough keeping a blog schedule. When life gets busy, the blog gets forgotten. 🙂
