Book Review: Dirt by C.C. Hogan

Dirt by C. C. Hogan is a wonderful fantasy novel. I really enjoyed this book after the first few pages. Dirt by CC Hogan coverThe book had a slow beginning depicting the ordinary daily routine of Johnson Farthing, the hero.  This part was as boring  as the title sounded and I didn’t see the point while reading. However, I kept reading and not too far into the book the plot began to pick up and there was a lot of action throughout the rest of the book. Character development was excellent.
I love the dragons in this story. They are not your typical fire breathing sort and the author gave them such interesting personalities. The wizard is also not your typical spell casting magician.
Dirt is a little longer than I was expecting so it took me a few days to get through the whole book. Here and there I found a few errors missed in the copy edit but for the most part those did not slow my reading. The book ends with a cliffhanger, which doesn’t bother me; I tend to enjoy series’ and will read the entire series. I give this a four out of five stars.

About grandmapeachy

I am a retired grandmother and amateur quilter. Generally I do not discuss religion and politics with people other than my family and even then I do more listening than talking. Because I dislike confrontation this blog is a way for me to express opinions that I hold on these and other issues without having to delve into controversial discussions with others who may not agree with me. I am also an avid supporter of indie authors. There are a lot of great books that are not available through traditional publishing and I believe that these stories need to be brought to the attention of the reading public.
